The concept of the 2016 Chevy Colorado has been unveiled in as early as 2014 during the Los Angeles Auto show wherein previous models morphed into a new one. From the ZR2 off-road concept in 2014’s auto show, the 2016 Colorado will offer the usual reliable 2.8 liters Duramax diesel and four-cylinder engine that will roar with 200 horsepower and a torque of 360 pound-feet. The 2016 Chevy Colorado ZR2, was based on the Colorado Z71 and will come with a six-speed automatic transmission. On the other hand, fuel capacity is expected to more efficient as compared to gasoline-powered engines.

After GM launched the second generation Chevy Colorado pick-up in the North American market in 2014, a couple of updates and improvements are expected for the 2016 model. To name a few, the newest Colorado will feature more aggressive front and rear frontage which is complemented with off-road tires intended to enhance departure and approach angles, perfect for both flat and steep terrain. To traverse smoothly on challenging terrain, the 2016 Colorado will be paired with mono-tube shocks, a set of remote-reservoir, and locking front and rear differentials. On the other hand, a winch and a 48-inch Hi-Jack lift can be used for more unforgiving road conditions. Some added features include a two-tire loading system, 13 tie-down locations, EZ lift, new corner steps, and more enhancements to look forward to.
The 2016 Chevy Colorado Z72 will be a low weight, off-road vehicle. It will offer two body types: extended cab and crew cab, both capable of carrying 5 passengers. When it comes to interior, the ruggedly handsome truck will offer top-of-the-line driver information screen over a vivid 8-inch color touch monitor. GM is committed in ensuring that the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado Z72 will exceed its predecessor’s towing capacity of 6700 to offer the best payload and towing capability.

As to the release date and price of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, speculation has it that it might be released in the second half of 2015. The price remains undisclosed though but it is expected to be a little bit pricier than its predecessors and its close rivals – the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger.
