2015 Chevrolet El Camino Review and Price

The Chevrolet El Camino is a coupe utility vehicle that was produced by Chevrolet, a division of General Motors, in two runs. First, it was produced in 1959 and 1960 and the second stance from 1964 to 1987. The small utility vehicle featured 2 seats in the cabin and a small bed in the rear capable of cargo carriage. The latter production was discontinued in 1987. Now looks like Chevy plans to return this popular model as 2015 Chevrolet El Camino.

From the design perspective, coupe utilities are supposed to be like two seat sports cars that can carry a little cargo, so aerodynamics will take a significant dimension of the ute’s exterior design. Previous concept vehicles had a six foot long rear bed and this is to be expected in the anticipated model. Good looks are a must for any designer taking El Camino as a project because this was supposedly Chevrolet’s coolest coupe utility and has to remain cool.

The 2015 Chevy El Camino is expected to share a platform with the Pontiac G8, which is a sedan. If it does share the platform, then ride quality will be made to sedan crisp ride and the interior will contain a few show offs unlike those in most pickups.

2015 Chevrolet El Camino engine options

General Motors has been for long announcing a possible revival of the El Camino nameplate. Most notable is the G8 ST project of 2008 that Chevrolet announced. The concept vehicle featured two engine options, a 6.0 liter V8 engine developing 361 hp and a 300hp 3.2 liter V6. This project did not make it to production because of financial barriers in General Motors. However, General Motors did make a pledge to see a return of Chevrolet El Camino in the year 2015.

The revival of the 2015 Chevrolet El Camino nameplate was motivated by the market need of fuel efficient vehicles, where General Motors wishes to play along other manufacturers. Most buyers would prefer a vehicle that performs more tasks and then also perform well on the gas department. The fuel factor should then motivate Chevrolet to provide more than one engine option, a performance engine and an economy package. From the previous revival trial, the 6.0 liter V8 was meant for performance while the direct injected diesel V6 was for fuel minding customers. So for the 2015 release models, buyers should anticipate even more engine options aimed at fusing both performance and fuel economy into the same envelope.
